Sheet metal screws, known technically as tapping screws (not to be confused with self-drilling),

have sharp threads that cut (or thread) into materials such as plas c, plexi glass, wood, and
sheet metal. They are also recommended for use with Conical and Easy Wall Anchors. They
make excellent fasteners for a aching metal hardware to wood because the fully threaded
shank provides good reten on in wood.

Self-Tapping vs Self-Drilling
It can be a confusing conversation, self tapping, tapping, self-drilling...customers ask for one thing when
they mean another. Our sheet metal screw is technically known as a tapping screw, where the sharp end is
inserted through an existing hole or penetrates thin sheel metal and “taps” threads as a means of fastening
to the material. Alternatively, a self-drilling screw (often referred to as a Tek™ screw), has a hardened drill
point ranging from #2 through #5 in length for varying gauges of material.
